Welcome to the OCES Counseling office!

Mary Griner is excited to join the faculty of OCES as school counselor. She has been a resident of Oconee County since 2005. Bringing more than 28 years of experience as a school counselor and 15 of those in the elementary setting, Ms. Griner has served students of all ages Pre-K through 12th grade and believes that students are more successful when they feel connected to their school. 

Counseling services at OCES are based on the American School Counselors Association comprehensive model to support the development of all students and aid in providing a supportive learning environment to help students overcome any barriers that might interfere with achievement. These services range from classroom counseling lessons which reinforce the OCES B.R.A.V.E. student expectations to small group and individual services on an as-needed basis. Additional services include crisis response and intervention, consultation with parents and staff, and collaboration with community organizations for resources and other supports. 

Outside of school hours, Ms. Griner can be found enjoying time with her twin sons (NOHS Class of 2022) who are students at UGA, walking their dog, Gus, and reading or learning to play Mahjong with friends.
